The game was played in front of a feverish atmosphere created by a crowd of 20,000 supporters at Cairo International Stadium.

Ahly's coach Marcel Koller remains unbeaten in domestic competitions and secured his second trophy of the season since his appointment at the beginning of the season following an Egyptian Super Cup last October.

Pyramids FC, on the other hand, lost their third final, extending their wait for a trophy.

Despite Pyramids' overly-cautious approach, they managed to take the lead in the 72nd minute when Walid El Karti scored a header after Ahmed Samy's first attempt was rejected by the crossbar.

However, their joy was short-lived as Mahmoud "Kahraba" Abdel-Moneim equalised just two minutes later from point-blank after collecting a header Yasser Ibrahim.

As the game headed into extra-time, Ahly kept up the pressure, and their efforts paid off when Hamdy Fathy scored a header from a long ball delivered by Hussein El-Shahat, sending it past keeper Ahmed El-Shennawy.

Ahly's victory showcased their fighting spirit and determination to win, making it a memorable night for their fans.
