Egypt newly-appointed sports minister El-Amry Farouk has decided to appoint Essam Abdel-Moneim as the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) executive committee chief for 60 days.

Abdel-Moneim, a former Ahly and Egypt footballer, is succeeding former caretaker president Anwar Saleh, who has reached the retirement age.

Saleh took charge of the EFA after the resignation of the former elected board, under Samir Zaher, last February in the wake of the Port Said Stadium disaster, which saw more than 70 supporters killed after clashes erupted following a league match.

The new committee that includes Tarek Ghoniem, Mohmed Hossam, Fathi Nossair, Samer Abul-Kheir, Khaled Bayoumi and Amr Mustafa will be in charge of elections for the new board.
