“Pyramids FC will face Ahly in the Egyptian Super Cup and we will impose sanctions on Zamalek,” EFA member Mohamed Abou El-Wafa told a TV programme on Tuesday.
Zamalek reaffirmed on Tuesday their decision to withdraw from the Egyptian Super Cup after the EFA gave them a delay until Tuesday evening to decide on their participation in the Super Cup.
On Monday night Zamalek president announced the withdrawal of the team from the Super Cup due to what he described as the EFA reluctance to execute the 12-match ban handed by the EFA disciplinary committee on Ahly forward Mahmoud ‘Kahraba’ Abdel-Moneim.
The club president also mentioned the EFA's decision to appoint an Egyptian referee for the game as another reason for their withdrawal.
Egypt Cup winner, Ahly arrived to UAE on Tuesday as they started preparations for Friday clash.
Ahly defeated Pyramids FC 2-1 in the 2022 Egypt Cup final last month.
Pyramids FC who were eliminated from the Confederation Cup quarter-finals on Sunday following their 1-0 loss to Marumo Gallants of South Africa, returned to Cairo on Tuesday after a long trip.
