Pyramids FC rush practice before flying to meet Ahly in Super Cup in UAE

Pyramids FC, who were called upon last minute to replace Zamalek in facing Ahly in the Egyptian Super Cup, held a rushed training session on Thursday before travelling to Abu Dhabi for the game on Friday.

The team trained to prepare for Friday's match against record twelve-time champions Ahly.

Pyramids qualified for the Super Cup as runners-up in the Egypt Cup and third in the Egyptian Premier League, replacing Zamalek who withdrew despite winning the league.

Head coach Jaime Pacheco named a 25-man squad for the game, excluding injured trio Abdallah El-Said, Osama Galal, and Sherif Ekramy.

Pyramids squad:

Goalkeepers: Ahmed El-Shennawy, Ahmed Daador, and Youssef Nader.

Defenders: Ali Gabr; Ahmed Fathi; Ahmed Sami; Ahmed Tawfik; Mohamed El-Chibi; Abdallah Magdi; Mohamed Hamdi, and Karim Hafez.

Midfielders: Blati Toure; Walid El-Karti; Mahmoud Abdelaati; Mahmoud Saber; Mohamed Sadek; Hesham Mohamed; Ibrahim Adel; Eslam Issa; Mostafa Fathi; Ramadan Sobhi, and Tolulope Samuel Ojo.

Forwards: Mohamed El-Gabbass, Fakhreddine Ben Youssef, and Fagrie Lakay.

The squad flew on a private plane from Cairo to the UAE where the game is to be held at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium. Meanwhile Egypt Cup winner, Ahly, arrived to the UAE on Tuesday and started preparations for Friday’s clash.

Pyramids FC who were eliminated from the Confederation Cup quarter-finals on Sunday following their 1-0 loss to Marumo Gallants of South Africa, had returned to Cairo on Tuesday after a long trip.
