The former international keeper tested positive for a banned substance after Pyramids FC game against Moroccan side FAR in a Confederation Cup group stage game in Cairo on 12 February.

The 39-year-old said during the hearing that he received a drug for burning fats under the supervision of the team doctor, and they did not know that it contained a banned substance.

According to reports, the player's ban will end on 28 May.

Pyramids FC were eliminated from the Confederations Cup quarters after losing 2-1 on aggregate to South African side Marumo Gallants, earlier this week.

Ekrami, a long-serving Ahly player, joined Pyramids FC on November 2020.
