What they said after Ahly’s Egyptian Super Cup triumph

After Friday’s precious 1-0 win over rivals Pyramids FC, Ahly players, technical staff and fans celebrated winning their 13th Egypt Super Cup title.

Ahram Online collected reactions from players and technical staff members following the game that was played in the Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Marcel Koller

“We deserved the victory that came against a strong opponent. The Super Cup is a very important step in our season and the players proved themselves and played a big game,” Ahly’s Swiss coach said.

“We play strong games in a dense schedule and our aim is to win in all competitions to please our fans who always ask for wins,” he added.

Sami Komsan

“Our start of the season is a good one. We won the Egypt Cup and now the Super Cup. We wait new challenges and a big desire to continue our success and win both the African Champions League and the Egyptian League titles,” said Ahly’s Egyptian assistant coach.

Mohamed El-Shennawy

“The Super Cup Victory came as a reward for the team after the stress caused by the dense schedule and playing decisive confrontations in all competition in the past period,” Ahly’s goalkeeper and skipper declared.

Ali Maaloul

“The victory was not easy as the match was a very difficult one. Winning the Super Cup will be a morale boost for us in the coming games amid the strong competition at both the domestic and continental levels,” Ahly’s Tunisian left back said.

Mahmoud Kahraba

“I expected the victory especially as we were in full concentration to please the fans who attended the game. I am happy that I contributed in the penalty that granted the win to my team and that was with the help of my teammates,” Ahly’s influential winger Mahmoud 'Kahraba' Abdel-Moneim said.

Hamdy Fathy

“We were fully concentrated to please our fans and win the title. The supporters who attended in the stands played a big role in the victory,” the Ahly midfielder declared.

Percy Tau

“We want to win more titles now. We are proceeding well so far  and our next step will be in the Champions League semis and our eye is on not repeating the loss of last year’s final,” Ahly’s South African striker said.
