Pereira, who was appointed as head of the Referees Committee as a replacement to Mark Clattenburg who stepped down in January, said he had been monitoring the peformances of his men and identified the strengths and weaknesses of Egyptian referees.

"I am following the Egyptian league games, and I promise starting from the next season things will be different," he told a press conference.

"We will hold a closed camp for the referees from 11 to 14 June in Port Said to improve the referees’ performance," he added.

Pereira said he would do his best to improve the standard of refereeing in Egypt.

The EFA has taken a new approach this season by appointing foreign experts of high repute to oversee the Referees’ Committee with the aim of improving and developing Egyptian officials.

Pereira was previously head of the Greek refereeing in August 2017 and took on the refereeing department in Russia in September 2021.

However, he resigned from his latest position in March 2022.
