Zamalek winger Mostafa Shalaby will be sidelined for up to six weeks after scans revealed he has a foot fracture, the Egyptian club announced on Saturday.

The 28-year-old sustained the injury during Zamalek's 2-0 win over Ghazl Al-Mahalla Tuesday in the Egyptian Premier League. Medical tests showed that Shalaby suffered a fracture in his foot, according to Zamalek's team doctor.

The club said Shalaby needs four to six weeks to make a full recovery from the injury and will undergo rehabilitation and treatment during that time.

Shalaby's absence will be a blow for Zamalek, who are chasing a qualifying position for next season's African Champions League and are still involved in the Egyptian Cup. They currently sit fourth in the league table, just one point behind third-placed Future. Zamalek are also scheduled to face Arab Contractors in the Egyptian Cup quarter-finals on 4 July.

Shalaby has been a key player for Zamalek this season, scoring four goals and providing four assists in all competitions.
