Ahly edge Ismaily 1-0, moving closer to Egyptian League crown

Ahly defeated Ismaily 1-0 in a delayed league game on Wednesday to cement their place at the top of the table.



Percy Tau scored the only goal of the match in the 50th minute, after receiving a cross from Khaled Abdel-Fattah. Ismaily equalised in the 55th minute through Mohamed Hassan, but the goal was disallowed for handball.

The victory moves Ahly to 72 points, five points clear of second-placed Pyramids. Ismaily remain in thirteenth place, with 34 points.

Ahly dominated possession throughout the match, but they were wasteful in front of goal. They had several chances to score, but they were either saved by Ismaily goalkeeper Ahmed Adel or hit the woodwork.

Ismaily had their chances as well, but they were unable to capitalize. They had a goal disallowed for handball, and they also hit the post.

In the end, Ahly came out on top, thanks to Tau's goal. The victory moves them closer to win the Egyptian Pro League title as they need only 5 points to officialy win the Egyptian Pro League.
