Ahly secured the league title on Monday, while Zamalek lie third in the table with 59 points, 16 points behind Ahly, who still have three matches in hand.

This will be the second derby for the 36-year-old referee, who previously officiated the 2021 derby that saw Ahly win 2-1.

He also took charge of the Egyptian Super Cup, which saw Ahly defeat Pyramids FC 1-0 after extra time last April.

The referees’ committee has expressed confidence in Egyptian referees' abilities, having previously assigned an Egyptian referee to officiate the last Egypt Cup final between Ahly and Pyramids FC.

El-Bana has been an international referee since 2014 and is considered one of the best referees in Egyptian football.
