The draw moved Ahly, who had already secured the league title, up to 82 points.

However, it ended the Red Devils' hopes of breaking their record points total of 89 in one season, which they set in 2019-20, with only two games left in the season.

Meanwhile, Haras El-Hodoud, who were relegated to the second division from the premier league weeks ago, finished the season with 25 points.

VAR ends dream

Ahly dominated possession and created several chances throughout the match, but were unable to find a winning goal.

The hosts took the lead in the 71st minute through Mahmoud "Kahraba" Abdel-Moneim but were pegged back 10 minutes later when Khaled Abdel-Fattah turned the ball into his own net.

In a frantic finish, and with seconds on the clock in garbage time, Kahraba thought he had scored a dramatic late winner, but his goal was overturned following a VAR review.
