Zamalek were drawn in Group C alongside Tunisian side US Monastir, Saudi Arabia’s Al-Shabab and Al-Nasr.

The White Knights will kick off their group stage campaign by facing US Monastir on Friday before taking on Al-Shabab three days later and finally they will face Al-Nassr on 3 August.

Defender Mahmoud Alaa is reportedly the prominent absentee in Zamalek’s travelling squad to Saudi Arabia as medical scans revealed he will be sidelined for 10 days at least due to a foot injury.

Zamalek are Egypt's only representatives in the tournament after Ahly withdrew, and Talae El-Gaish were knocked out in the playoff round by Ittihad of Libya.

The tournament winner will receive $6 million.
