The EPL released a statement on Monday saying, "The Egyptian Pro League has suspended Ahly's player Hussein El-Shahat for two games and fined him EGP 20,000 for his bad behaviour during the game against Pyramids FC according to the penalties' list."

As a result of the suspension, the 31-year-old winger will miss Ahly's upcoming games against Masry in the final matchday of the EPL and their clash against Dakhleya in the Egypt Cup next week.

A few hours after the game, Ahly's management decided to fine the player.

Although El-Shahat apologized to El-Chibi after the incident, Pyramids FC lodged a complaint against the player with the disciplinary committee of the Egyptian Football Association.

Pyramids FC handed Ahly their first loss of the season on Sunday with a 3-0 victory in the 30 June stadium.

Despite the loss, Ahly's status as League champions was unaffected since they had already secured the title two weeks prior.

With one game more than the League leaders, Pyramids FC are currently in second place with 73 points, trailing by nine points.
