South African striker Percy Tau opened the scoring in the 36th minute while Mohamed "Afsha" Magdi secured the tie deep in injury time in a one-sided game.

Ahly will play Masry in the quarters on Thursday, August 3.

The Red Devils started the game with a high press and missed the chance to go ahead when Ali Maaloul hit the post from the penalty kick in the 15th minute.

The Red Devils enjoyed more than 70% of possession and it was a matter of when, not if, Ahly would score.

In the 36th minute, Tau slotted home from close range after a defence-splitting pass from Afsha.

A few minutes later, Afsha could have doubled his team's lead when his point-blank attempt was denied by the keeper.

Ahly kept on pressing after the interval and Afsha, Tau and Hussein El Shahat squandered several chances to extend their lead.

However, Afsha was able to make amends as he scored a fine curling ball from outside the box in the 93rd minute.
