The financial details of the deal were not disclosed, but reports suggest Ahly will receive over $1.5 for the sale.

Sherif, 27, joins Khaleej FC on a two-year contract with an option for a third year according to an announcement by the Saudi club.

He joined Ahly in January 2018 from Wadi Degla and established himself as a key player in the team until claiming the top scorer's award in 2021.

However he fell down the pecking order under coach Marcel Koller as Mahmoud "Kahraba" Abdel-Moneim became his number one choice.

Sherif - whose contract expires in summer 2024 - wanted a move away especially with the arrival of Salah Mohsen and reports that Ahly are still in the market for a foreign striker which will diminish even more his playing time.

Khaleej FC was just promoted to the Saudi Pro League in the 2022-2023 season. They survived relegation by just 3 points last season and are expecting to battle for survival again this term as they are not among the big four clubs owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund that have been spending heavily on transfers.
