The Pro League conducted the draw ceremony on Monday, with treble-winning Ahly drawn against the Port Said-based club led by their former player Ali Maher.
Zamalek will face a tough start as they take on runners-up Pyramids FC, who invested heavily in the summer transfer window.
The Cairo derby between Ahly and Zamalek will be played in the 10th round.
The full dates and fixtures are yet to be announced.
The Egyptian Pro League chief Ahmed Diab confirmed that the season will commence on 18 September and end on 30 July 2024.
