Winger Pupia Baranga scored the winner with a well-placed shot from inside the area eight minutes into the second half.

Singida Big Stars put on a convincing performance, setting the stage for a challenging second-leg encounter for Modern Future in Cairo two weeks later.

Although Modern Future enjoyed an initial period of dominance in the first 20 minutes, they failed to convert their control into concrete goal-scoring opportunities.

The hosts gradually regained control and created some half-chances, testing Modern Future keeper Mahmoud 'Gennesh' Abdel-Rehim.

The second half witnessed increased pressure from the hosts and they scored the only goal of the game in the 53rd minute.

Modern Future made attempts to equalise but struggled due to their strikers' lack of focus.

To overturn their defeat and progress to the next round, Modern Future will need to be more clinical in the second leg on 1st October.
