Five-star Zamalek produce masterclass to hammer Smouha
The Whites claimed their second league win, propelling them to third place on the table with eight points, while Smouha sit closely behind in fourth place, accumulating seven points.
Zamalek wasted no time asserting their dominance as Mostafa Shalaby opened the scoring just three minutes into the game, capitalizing on a precise cross from Omar Gaber.
Ahmed "Zizo" El Sayed further extended Zamalek's lead in the 13th minute, elegantly guiding the ball into the net with his knee, courtesy of a brilliant assist from Shalaby.
Youssef Ibrahim, in exceptional form, contributed to Zamalek's commanding performance with a third goal seconds before halftime.
Engaging in an impressive display alongside skipper Mahmoud "Shikabala" Abdel-Razek within the penalty area, Ibrahim skillfully converted Shikabala's heel assist using his own heel after a remarkable ball control.
At the start of the second half, Smouha squandered a clear scoring opportunity when Zamalek's goalkeeper, Mohamed Sobhy, made a crucial block, diverting the ball to a corner kick, denying Hossam Hassan a chance to score.
Smouha managed to salvage some pride through substitute forward Fady Farid, who expertly converted a splendid cross from the left, heading the ball into the net.
However, Zamalek swiftly restored their dominance as substitute Tunisian striker Seifeddine Jaziri secured the fourth goal for his side, nine minutes before the final whistle.
Jaziri showcased his striking instincts by closely following Shikabala's shot, which hit the crossbar, and tapping the ball into the net.
In the dying moments of the game, Shikabala put the icing on the cake with a fine strike in the 90th minute to seal the biggest result of the season so far.
This impressive triumph highlights Zamalek's determination to regain stability following the appointment of a new board on Friday.
Hussien Labib, a former handball international, ushering in a new era for the club that is set to extend until 2027.
Zamalek had initially struggled at the beginning of the current league campaign, settling for draws in matches against Pyramids FC and Arab Contractors.
