Midfielder Walid El Karti suffered a hamstring injury and will be sidelined for several days, while winger Mostafa Fathi has also been ruled out after picking up an injury during his national team duty with Egypt.
El Karti and Fathi are undergoing intensive treatment and rehabilitation programmes to recover in time for the upcoming matches, according to local media.
Pyramids FC will host Mazembe at the Air Defence Stadium in Cairo in their first Group A game.
Group A also includes Sundowns of South Africa and Nouadhibou of Mauritania.
