However, Swiss coach Marcel Koller did not make the cut.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the final shortlists for the Club, Coach, and Goalkeeper categories on Thursday.

Liverpool Egyptian winger Salah will face a challenge in the final three list of the Player of the Year award, with Paris Saint-Germain Moroccan winger Achraf Hakimi and Napoli Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.

Ahly have been nominated for the prestigious Club of the Year award, reflecting their exceptional season.

Additionally, El-Shennawi has earned a spot on the final shortlist for the Goalkeeper of the Year award.

Unfortunately, Swiss coach Marcel Koller failed to secure a place among the top three contenders.

The Cairo giants enjoyed tremendous success this season, clinching five titles at both domestic and continental levels, including the Egyptian League, Egypt Cup, and African Champions League.

Ahly face formidable competition for the Club of the Year award, as they go up against Morocco's Wydad and South African side Mamelodi Sundowns.

Mamelodi Sundowns recently made history by winning the inaugural African Football League (AFL) title, defeating Ahly in the semifinals and overcoming Wydad in the final.

Egyptian goalkeeper El-Shennawi will also face a tough challenge in the Goalkeeper of the Year category, with strong contenders like Al-Hilal Moroccan keeper Yassine Bounou and Cameroonian Andre Onana from Manchester United.

Swiss coach, Marcel Koller, was unable to secure a spot in the final three. He faced tough competition from renowned coaches across the continent.

The final shortlist for the Coach of the Year award includes Walid Regragui, the coach of the Morocco national team, Aliou Cisse from Senegal, and Abdelhak Benchikha, the coach of USM Alger.

The prestigious CAF Awards, a celebration of African football's brightest stars, will take place on 11 December 2023 in Morocco.
