“We would like to thank coach Gharib for his efforts with the team and we announce his departure because of the team’s critical situation in the league competition,” reads a statement by the club via Facebook.

Under the guidance of the 64-year-old Gharib, the club failed to secure a single win after playing eight games in the Egyptian Premier League's new season.

Arab Contractors currently lie in the 17th place, one from the bottom, with just four points from four draws, 12 points behind leaders Pyramids FC who still have one match in hand.

Since taking charge of the team in August 2022, Gharib guided Contractors in 51 games; winning in 14, drawing in 22 and losing the remaining 15.

The team ended last season in seventh place in the league table.

Gharib, a former player of Ghazl El-Mahla and the Egypt national team, was the assistant coach of the Pharaohs in a successful stint that lasted from 2004 to 2011, before taking charge as a head coach for just one year from November 2013 to November 2014.
