Pyramids FC keeper El-Shennawi out for one month

Pyramids FC has been dealt a significant blow with Goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shennawi will be sidelined for around one month due to injury.

The club announced on Sunday that the 32-year-old sustained a fractured rib during training on Saturday, and scans have confirmed the extent of the injury, requiring a month of rehabilitation.

This injury comes at a crucial time for Pyramids FC, as they are set to face South African side Sundowns in the group stage of the CAF Champions League.

The Egyptian team need to win to improve their position in a challenging Group A.

Currently sitting at the bottom with four points, they trail Mamelodi Sundowns, TP Mazembe, and FC Nouadhibou based on goal difference.

In addition to missing the Champions League clash, El-Shennawi will also be absent from the upcoming edition of the Egyptian Super Cup, scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates on December 25.

The tournament features the participation of Pyramids FC, Ahly, Ceramica Cleopatra, and Modern Future.

Pyramids FC is expected to face Modern Future on 25 December, with the winner advancing to the final against the winner of the match between Ahly and Ceramica Cleopatra on December 28.

Furthermore, Pyramids FC winger Ramadan Sobhi will also be unavailable for the Sundowns match, although the club did not disclose the reason for his absence.
