Egyptian side Pyramids FC is gearing up for a challenging encounter on Tuesday as they host South African team Sundowns in a crucial Champions League group stage match at Air Defense Stadium.

Pyramids FC managed to secure a goalless draw against Sundowns in their previous meeting, giving them a glimmer of hope in the competition following a frustrating 2-0 defeat to Nouadhibou of Mauritania.

After three matches in the group stage, all the clubs are level on four points.

However, Pyramids FC currently sit at the bottom of the group due to inferior goal difference compared to Sundowns, TP Mazembe, and FC Nouadhibou.

"Our target is to win this game," Pyramids FC coach Jaime Pacheco told the pre-match news conference on Monday.

"The game against Sundowns will be decisive in this difficult group."

"We produced a convincing performance in Pretoria, and I believe that we are capable of claiming the victory in Cairo."

The upcoming match against Sundowns will be far from easy, as the South African side has a reputation for achieving positive results in Egypt.

Pyramids FC will face the challenge without the experienced goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shennawi and skillful winger Ramadan Sobhi, as both players will be sidelined due to injuries.

El-Shennawi has a fractured rib that will keep him out of action for about a month, while Sobhi is dealing with a muscle injury.

However, Pyramids FC can rely on key players such as veteran playmaker Abdallah El-Saed, solid midfielders Walid El-Karti and Blate Toure, and winger Mostafa Fathi to make an impact and potentially secure a victory on home turf.

A win against Sundowns on Tuesday would greatly improve Pyramids FC's position in the group and bring them closer to reaching the quarter-finals of the competition.

"A win in this game will bring the team closer to reaching the next round." he concluded.
