Egyptian side Modern Future FC were held to a goalless draw at home by defending champions USMA from Algeria on Wednesday, keeping their hopes alive of advancing to the next round of the competition.

This result comes after Modern Future suffered a 1-0 defeat against USMA earlier this month in Algeria.

In the group standings, Modern Future FC currently sit in second place with seven points, three points behind group leaders USMA.

Al-Hilal of Libya, in third place with three points, will face bottom-placed Supersport United (0 points) later on Wednesday.

Modern Future's Moroccan winger Abdelkabir El Ouadi was guilty of squandering three clear goal-scoring opportunities that could have secured a much-desired win for his team.

Striker Marwan Mohsen also had a chance to open the scoring for his side but narrowly missed the target.

On the other hand, the Algerian side posed a threat to Modern Future FC on several occasions, but goalkeeper Mahmoud Abdel-Rehim made crucial saves to prevent his team from suffering a home defeat.

With two matches remaining in the group stage, Modern Future FC still have a good chance of advancing to the next round.

They will visit Supersport United before hosting Al-Hilal in their final group match.
