Zamalek sign Abdallah El-Said from Pyramids FC as club makes heavy winter recruitment

Six years after their first attempt to sign the veteran playmaker, Zamalek announced on the Saturday the signing of Pyramids FC playmaker Abdallah El-Said for the next 18 months.

The 38-year old El-Said was the subject of competition between Zamalek and Ahly in 2018 when his contract with Ahly was set to expire.

Although Zamalek officials hinted at securing his signing, Ahly eventually renewed his contract.

However, Zamalek released photos showing El-Said signing his transfer contract with them in the presence of club officials.

Consequently, the player was put on the transfer list and later joined KuPS of Finland before moving to Saudi club Ahly Jeddah in July 2018.

He returned to Egypt in January 2019 to join Pyramids FC, where he made 183 appearances, scoring 47 goals and providing 44 assists.

El-Said currently ranks fourth in the list of all-time top scorers in the Egyptian league with 123 goals.

Seif Gaafar, a former Zamalek midfielder who joined Pyramids FC last summer, will also return to his boyhood club after signing a three-and-a-half-year contract.

In addition to El-Said, Zamalek has also signed midfielder Nasser Maher from Modern Future FC.

Maher, who is a production of Ahly youth teams, has scored one goal in eight appearances this season.

However, both El-Said and Maher will not be eligible to play in the Confederation Cup for Zamalek, as they have already participated in the competition with their previous clubs.

Furthermore, Zamalek has acquired midfielder Mohamed Shehata from Talae El-Guiesh and winger Mohamed Atef from Tanta.

These signings come after the lifting of the transfer ban imposed on Zamalek last year due to cases involving unpaid dues to clubs and players.

Currently, Zamalek is in 12th place on the league table with 11 points from eight matches, trailing leaders ZED FC by eight points, who have played two matches more.
