Ahly’s winger Walid Soliman is doubtful for Sunday’s African Champions League game at TP Mazembe of the DR Congo after suffering a bout of influenza, the club said on Friday.
“The club’s medical team is doing its best to get Soliman ready for the game. He is undergoing intensive treatment,” Ahly said in a brief statement on their official website.
Soliman has been one of the Red Devils’ most impressive performers lately, thanks to his pace and dribbling skills down the flanks.
His brace in the team’s 4-1 home victory over Ghana’s Berekum Chelsea earlier this month included a stunning volley that earned him plaudits.
The Red Devils need one point from the two remaining Group B matches to ensure their progress to the semi-final of Africa’s premier club competition, which they last won in 2008.
They lie on top of the group with 10 points, three ahead of Mazembe and five clear of Chelsea.
