Zamalek made a surprising move by re-signing midfielder Seif Farouk Gaafar from Pyramids FC, only six months after his departure. The details of the deal have not been disclosed.

The official Zamalek Twitter account announced the signing on Monday, welcoming Gaafar with a short video of the player donning the Whites' jersey.

Gaafar's return marks the sixth acquisition for Zamalek this winter, as they aim to rebuild their squad following a disastrous start to the season.

The club have been investing significantly in new talent, with the recent additions of forward Mohamed Atef from Tanta, playmaker Abdallah El-Said from Pyramids FC, winger Mohab Yasser from Dakhleya, playmaker Nasser Maher from Modern Future FC, and Palestinian defender Yasser Hamed.

Gaafar, 24, left his boyhood club Zamalek in August 2023 to join Pyramids FC on a free transfer after his contract with the Whites expired.

However, his time at Pyramids FC was short-lived, making only four appearances in six months.

These signings come after Zamalek had their transfer ban lifted, which was imposed in 2023 due to cases involving unpaid dues to clubs and players.

Currently sitting in 12th place on the league table with 11 points from eight matches, Zamalek is looking to climb higher in the standings.

They trail league leaders ZED FC by eight points but have two games in hand, giving them a chance to close the gap.

In the African Confederation Cup, the White Knights are leading Group B with an impressive record of three wins and one draw from four games, accumulating 10 points.

However, three of the newly signed players, Nasser Maher, Abdallah El-Said, and Gaafar, will not be eligible to participate in the African Confederation Cup for Zamalek.

They had previously played for their respective clubs earlier this season in continental tournaments.
