Pyramids FC's hopes of advancing in the CAF Champions League were dashed as they succumbed to a resounding 3-0 defeat against DR Congo's TP Mazembe, resulting in their elimination from the group stage.

Pyramids FC could only manage a mere four points as they were relegated to the bottom of Group A.

Meanwhile, TP Mazembe secured their spot in the next round of the continental tournament.

Pyramids failed to find the back of the net despite an impressive start to the game.

TP Mazembe's Joel Beya struck a decisive blow in the 26th minute to put the hosts in the lead.

Glody Likonza capitalized on a mistake by Pyramids' goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shennawi in the dying moments of the first half, doubling TP Mazembe's advantage.

Any lingering hopes for Pyramids FC were extinguished during injury time when Patient Mwamba exploited a defensive error to secure TP Mazembe's third goal.

This effectively sealed the fate of the Egyptian side and quashed their chances of reaching the quarterfinals.

Pyramids FC dominating play in the first half was thwarted by TP Mazembe's resolute defence.

In a bid to turn the tide, Pyramids FC's coach made substitutions at the start of the second half, bringing on winger Ibrahim Adel in place of Ramadan Sobhi and Islam Issa to replace Mohanad Lashine.

Pyramids FC commenced their Champions League group stage campaign on a positive note with a 1-0 home victory over TP Mazembe in the first round.

However, a setback against FC Nouadhibou of Mauritania saw them slip to third position.

Their woes continued with a 1-0 loss at home to second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, following two goalless draws in the third and fourth rounds.
