"The player's health is currently in good condition following the surgery in Germany, and he will commence a therapy and rehabilitation programme in the coming period, following a special program designed by the German doctor," Osama stated.

The 38-year-old sustained the injury during Zamalek training last month and he is confirmed to be out of action for the remainder of the season.

Abdel-Shafi had initially announced his retirement last summer but later reversed his decision.

He has made eight appearances for the White Knights this season across all competitions.

With 232 appearances for Zamalek, the veteran fullback has scored 11 goals and provided 18 assists while wearing the White Knights' jersey.

He was also a key member of the Egypt national team, contributing to their victory in the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title.

Throughout his career, Abdel-Shafi has achieved nine trophies with Zamalek, including three Egyptian League titles, four Egypt Cup trophies, and the CAF Super Cup in the 2019/20 season.
