Zamalek are set to face Ahly in the 2022-2023 Egypt Cup final, taking place in Saudi Arabia on Friday.

Having taken charge of the team just last month, Gomes has already guided Zamalek to two wins and one draw across various competitions.

A victory against Ahly in the Egypt Cup final would provide a significant morale boost for both the coach and the team as they embark on a new era under new management.

"I started my mission with Ahly Jeddah with the Saudi Cup title, and I want to do the same thing with Zamalek by winning the Egypt Cup," Jose Gomes told the pre-match news conference on Wednesday,

"Zamalek are a big team accustomed to winning titles, and we need to confirm this fact against Ahly in the final."

Despite the final's significance, Gomes emphasized that the game should not be given more importance than it deserves, highlighting that there is no special preparation for this specific match.

"The game is like any other game, and our preparations are the same for all matches. We are well-prepared and ready to deliver a strong performance during the game."

Gomes acknowledged that both teams may not be in their peak form but emphasized that winning the Cup is the most crucial objective for him.

Zamalek secured their place in the Egypt Cup final after defeating Pyramids FC in the semi-finals on penalties back in November.
