The 25-year-old Palestinian forward missed the Red Devils' 2-0 victory over Zamalek in the Egypt Cup final in Saudi Arabia on Friday after sustaining the injury during training.

"Wessam Abou Ali suffered a mild first-degree hamstring strain and is expected to be out for up to two weeks," doctor Ahmed Gaballah told the club's official social media channels.

Abou Ali joined Ahly from Swedish club IK Sirius in January, signing a four-and-a-half-year contract.

The Palestinian striker made a brief appearance against Ghana's Medeama in the CAF Champions League and was subsequently called off the bench in Ahly's final group stage match against Young Africans of Tanzania.

Abou Ali had an impressive debut start in the Egyptian Premier League against Baladeyet El-Mahalla, where he showcased his skills by scoring two goals.

Meanwhile, Gaballah provided an update on the injured duo of goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy and Yasser Ibrahim, stating that they are making good progress in their rehabilitation programme.

The Egyptian powerhouse are preparing to resume domestic competition with their 15th matchday game against NBE Club on Tuesday.

As defending champions of the league, Ahly currently occupy 10th place in the standings with 17 points, trailing temporary leaders Enppi by nine points, although the petroleum club have played seven more matches.
