"After the match, Hussein El-Shahat underwent medical examinations to assess the severity of his injury," Ahly stated on their official Facebook page.

The 31-year-old player was forced to leave the field during injury time following a collision with a Simba defender that earned Ahly a penalty kick.

The club has not released any updates on El-Shahat's condition.

With the win over Simba, Ahly advanced to the semifinals of the CAF Champions League for the 20th time in the club's history, and the fifth consecutive time.

El-Shahat has been performing at a high level this season, scoring nine goals and providing one assist in 25 appearances for Ahly so far this season.
