Classy winger Ahmed 'Zizo' Sayed grabbed a brace and winter-signing midfielder Nasser Maher added the third to help the White Knights cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win over the Mediterranean outfit.
"Abdallah El-Said is the ultimate professional," the 53-year-old Portuguese manager told reporters in his post-match press conference.
"His football intelligence makes him an invaluable asset to any team he plays for. He's capable of playing various midfield positions," stressed Gomes.
El-Said, who turns 39 in July, signed during the winter transfer window with Zamalek after a lustrious career with Ismaily, Ahly, and Pyramids FC.
One-sided affair
"Ittihad are a well-organized and competent side, but the game was a one-sided affair."
"We controlled the game and we created numerous scoring opportunities and I'm very pleased with the players' performance," said Gomes.
Ahly no different
"A crucial encounter awaits us in the upcoming Cairo derby against Ahly in the league on Monday," he noted.
"However, our preparations for Ahly won't differ from any other match," said Gomes.
