The White Knights were fined EGP50,000, with one staff member suspended for two games and another for four games due to "hiding the match balls to waste time," as stated by the EPL.
Tunisian forward Seifeddine Jaziri secured a late winner in the 86th minute, marking Zamalek's first victory against Ahly in four years.
However, following the goal, Ahly's players and technical staff raised complaints as the game repeatedly paused during set-pieces due to delays in retrieving the hidden balls.
The outcome leaves Zamalek in tenth place with 21 points from 13 games, while the Red Devils have the same points tally but have played two games fewer.
