Petrojet return to Egyptian Premier League after five-year absence

Ahram Online , Tuesday 16 Apr 2024

Petrojet have returned to the Egyptian Premier League the first time in five years with a convincing 3-0 victory over Raya on Tuesday.

This crucial win has propelled Petrojet to an unassailable lead at the top of the second-tier table with 57 points and just four matches remaining.

As the top spot is now out of reach for competitors, the race for the remaining promotion slots intensifies, with Ghazl El Mahalla, La Viena, and Wadi Degla vying for the two available places.

Petrojet, representing a public gas company, were initialy promoted to the Premier League in 2006 and maintained a solid presence for 12 seasons until their relegation in 2019.

Their most notable achievement came in 2009, clinching a commendable third-place finish behind champions Ahly and Ismaily.
