Nigeria's winger, AbuBakar Liadi, emerged as the hero for the hosts, scoring the decisive goal just eight minutes into the second half.

Liadi capitalized on a brilliant assist from high-energy striker Hossam Hassan.

Zamalek came out strong in the match, applying pressure on the hosts, while Smouha relied on the tactics of lone striker Hassan during the first half.

However, the tables turned in the second half when Smouha executed a well-timed counterattack.

Hassan received the ball inside the box and delivered an assist to Liadi, who found the back of the net.

Zamalek's Portuguese coach, Jose Gomes, sought to find the equalizer by bringing on his veteran players, including Ahmed 'Zizo' Sayed, Ahmed Fattouh, and Nasser Mansi, as substitutes.

Smouha's hopes of securing the victory were dealt a blow when Hossam Hassan received his second yellow card and was subsequently sent off.

The Alexandria-based team managed to hold on with ten men for the remaining minutes of the game.

With this defeat, Zamalek remains in 12th place in the Egyptian League table with 24 points, while Smouha climbs to sixth place with 30 points.

The Whites were unable to extend their winning streak in the domestic competition to four, having previously secured victories against archrivals Ahly, NBE Club, and Ittihad of Alexandria in their previous games, respectively.
