“I am not happy with the way we started the game and not happy with how we conceded goals,” the Portuguese coach told beIN Sports after the game.

Issoufou Dayo opened the scoring for the Moroccans in the 13th minute from the penalty spot, and Adil Tahif doubled his team’s lead in the 32nd minute.

However, Zamalek improved in the second half, and Tunisian striker Seifeddine Jaziri pulled one back in the 46th minute to boost the Whites’ title chances before the return leg.

“I can’t say we played badly, but we didn’t play as we wanted. We prepared well for this game to come and win. Now we will have to prepare for the next game in Cairo, and we hope for a better game,” he concluded.

RS Berkane, who are playing their fourth Confederation Cup final in six years, will face Zamalek, who are seeking a second triumph after 2019, in Cairo on 19 May.
