According to FIFA's official website, the new transfer ban is due to last for three transfer windows and should directly end once the CAF Confederation Cup winners settle the late dues.

Reports in Egyptian media suggested that the new ban is related to the late dues for one of the club’s former assistant coaches under former Portuguese coach Jesualdo Ferreira.

The Whites are already serving a transfer ban for three transfer windows; a decision that was imposed by FIFA on 24 April because of the late dues owed to former striker Khalid Boutaïb.

The Federal Court in Switzerland rejected Zamalek's appeal against the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) decision, which ordered the club to pay 2.4 million euros to the Moroccan player after unilaterally terminating his contract in 2020.

Boutaïb joined Zamalek in January 2019 from Turkish side Maltayspor, following his strong performance with Morocco in the 2018 World Cup. However, he struggled to establish himself at the club due to a persistent knee injury, leading the former club president to terminate his three-and-a-half-year contract after just one year.

Last year, the club was hit with a similar ban, but the new management was able to lift it by fulfilling their financial obligations towards other clubs and players.
