The Swiss coach also expressed his admiration for the outstanding performance of the team's Palestinian striker Wessam Abou Ali, and his crucial contributions in securing the African trophy.
"After Mohamed Sherif's departure, we sought a tall striker who excels in headers during the summer transfer window. Modeste was our choice," Koller revealed during a television interview.
"Modeste is a valuable asset to the team, both on and off the pitch, as he diligently follows instructions," he added.
Koller emphasized that it is premature to discuss Modeste's departure without first assessing the situation thoroughly in a comprehensive meeting with the management.
In January, the Cairo giants bolstered their attacking prowess by signing Danish-Palestinian striker Wessam Abou Ali from Swedish club IK Sirius.
"I opted to sign Abou Ali last winter due to his playing style, which aligns well with the team. I am pleased with his performance," stated the Swiss coach.
"It is important for us to bring in new players every two seasons to infuse fresh talent into the team. However, we must first evaluate the players leaving before deciding on new signings," he continued.
On Saturday, Ahly clinched the CAF Champions League title with a 1-0 victory over Tunisia's Esperance in the final, marking the team's eighth trophy under the guidance of coach Koller in less than two years.
"I am relentless in my pursuit of winning trophies, and I aspire to secure a title each day," concluded Koller, highlighting his unyielding dedication to success.
