South African international winger Tau, who featured for South Africa in their recent 2026 World Cup qualifier against Nigeria, missed Tuesday's 3-1 win over Zimbabwe due to injury.

"The medical report we received from South Africa indicates that Tau has suffered a second-degree hamstring strain," Ahly’s team doctor Ahmed Gaballah said.

"Upon his arrival in Cairo, Tau will undergo further tests and scans to determine the exact extent of the injury and guide his treatment program," Dr. Gaballah added.

Meanwhile, Dr. Gaballah revealed that goalkeeper Makhlouf sustained a facial fracture during Tuesday's training session.

"Makhlouf underwent the necessary tests and scans before being placed under medical observation for 24 hours," explained the Ahly doctor. "He was released from the hospital today.

"The goalkeeper's condition is stable. He will rest for a week before undergoing further tests to determine his rehabilitation program," Dr. Gaballah concluded.

The reigning Egyptian Premier League champions, Ahly, are set to face Pharco FC on Friday in a postponed game from the 11th matchday of the domestic competition.
