The Cairo giants climbed to second place in the table, amassing 42 points from 18 games.

With six games in hand, Ahly trail league leaders Pyramids FC, who currently sit at the summit with 59 points from 24 games.

Ahly's midfielder, Mohamed 'Afsha' Magdi, set the tone with a powerful strike from inside the area in the 19th minute, capitalizing on a brilliant assist from Mahmoud Kahraba.

Throughout the first half, the Red Devils dominated play, but their frontline players squandered several easy-scoring opportunities. Hussein El-Shahat, Emam Ashour, and Kahraba came close to doubling the lead.

However, defender Karim Yehya levelled the score for Dakhleya with a penalty in the final minute of the first half, resulting in a 1-1 draw at halftime.

In a game-deciding moment, substitute Amr El-Sulaya sealed the victory for Ahly with a powerful strike from inside the area, just six minutes before the final whistle, securing a 2-1 win for the defending champions.

The second half commenced with Ahly applying high-pressure tactics to ensure the victory.

Coach Marcel Koller summoned Anthony Modeste and Ahmed Nabil Koka from the bench to replace El-Shahat and Karim Fouad, respectively.

Kahraba missed another golden opportunity to score after receiving a brilliant assist from substitute Modeste in the 73rd minute, failing to control the ball inside the area.

Koller once again turned to his substitutes, bringing on Ahmed Abdel-Kader and Amr El-Sulaya to replace Mohamed 'Afsha' Magdi and Reda Slim.

These changes proved pivotal as the Swiss coach sought to secure the lead in his quest to defend the Egypt Premier League title.

The Swiss coach's tactical adjustments paid off, ultimately delivering the crucial victory for the Red Devils.

With Friday's triumph, Ahly extended their winning streak in the Egyptian League to seven consecutive victories.
