Ahly have extended their winning streak to eight games and are currently second in the table with 45 points, 17 points behind Pyramids FC, who have played six more matches. Marcel Koller's men have enjoyed a rare break this season, as their scheduled game against Zamalek on Tuesday was called off due to the latter's forfeit.
Several players have had extra time to recover, notably Palestinian striker Wessem About Ali, who sustained an injury during the international break earlier in June. International fullback Omar Kamal could also be in the lineup following his injury against Ittihad of Alexandria.
Pharco FC, on the other hand, are just above the relegation zone with 25 points after 27 games, sitting just above third-from-bottom Baladeyet El Mahalla. Pharco recently secured a victory against Ittihad of Alexandria on Monday, marking their first league win since 15 May against Baladeyet El Mahalla.
If Pharco can secure any points against a determined Ahly, it would be considered a significant achievement.
