Currently, the Red Devils are in scintillating form, surging to second place in the league standings with 57 points.
However, they trail leaders Pyramids FC by 11 points, despite having four games in hand.
Ahly's recent 2-0 victory over Talae El-Geish has added to their momentum, securing their 12th consecutive win.
Ahly coach Marcel Koller confirmed on Sunday that first-choice goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy will return to the starting lineup against Pyramids FC.
The 35-year-old veteran goalkeeper missed Monday’s win over Talae El-Geish but will now be guarding Ahly's goal in the upcoming crucial match.
"Mohamed El-Shennawy will be Ahly's goalkeeper against Pyramids," Koller told reporters.
Nevertheless, Koller's men are aware of the challenge they face, as Pyramids FC also boast an impressive winning streak of 14 consecutive games.
The last meeting between the two sides saw Pyramids claim a convincing 3-0 victory in the league’s previous season.
However, the Cairo giants went on to win both the Egypt Cup and the Egyptian Super Cup at the expense of their rivals.
To potentially dethrone Pyramids FC, Ahly must win their remaining games, including all four of their delayed matches, to see them leapfrog their rivals to the top of the table by a single point.
The upcoming clash promises an intense battle since it could be a pivotal moment in the title race as Ahly strives to narrow the gap and assert their dominance in the Egyptian Premier League.
