The state-owned media conglomerate cited "violations of professional codes" as the reason for the termination.

Specific details of the breaches were not disclosed, but industry speculation centres on potential ethical lapses or journalistic violations.

Shobeir, a former goalkeeper for both Ahly and the Egyptian national team, had recently courted controversy with episodes involving Modern Future FC’s late midfielder Ahmed Refaat and Egyptian cyclist Shahd Said.

Responding to the controversy, UMS issued a statement reaffirming its commitment to the highest professional standards and media integrity.

"The United Media Services Company's Board of Directors unanimously decided to terminate Mr. Ahmed Shobeir's program," the statement said.

"Violations of the company's professional codes and content policies are unacceptable," it added. "UMS prioritizes respect for Egyptian public opinion."

The statement emphasized the need to address the "chaos in the sports media sector" and ensure "the right of the Egyptian citizen to sports media that respects the truth and strives for honesty."

"The United Company is committed to its staff providing professional media that respects viewers," it concluded. "It will not hesitate to deter anyone who deviates from the professional standards to which it has been committed since its inception."

The 63-year-old Shobeir, a UMS veteran of several years, previously faced altercations and court cases with former Zamalek’s president Mortada Mansour, leading to his program's suspension on Al-Hayah TV.
