The Red Devils took a significant step towards climbing to the top of the league standings with their 3-2 win against leaders Pyramids FC on Friday, but they must maintain their winning run.
Currently sitting in second place in the league table with 60 points from 24 matches, Ahly trails Pyramids FC by eight points, despite Pyramids FC having played four more matches.
Ahly's mission won't be easy against a tough fourth-placed side that boasts talented players such as Moroccan winger Abdelkabir El Ouadi, midfielder Ghanam Mohamed, and striker Ahmed Atef.
Guided by veteran coach Talaat Youssef, known for his defensive strategies, Modern Sport possesses the league's second-best defense, having conceded only 21 goals in 29 matches.
Ahly coach Marcel Koller will need to find the right tactics to break through Modern Sport's sturdy defense. Fortunately, Ahly possesses the best attack in the league, having scored 57 goals in 24 games.
Koller will rely on the excellent form of winger Hussein El-Shahat and striker Wessam Abou Ali, both of whom have been finding the net in Ahly's previous four games. However, the Swiss coach will also need to address the shaky performance of his defense, particularly considering Modern Sport's proficiency on the counter-attack.
This game against Modern Sport serves as the final test before Ahly faces Pyramids FC once again, and the Red Devils hope not to drop points before this crucial match.
