Zamalek missed a chance to climb the Egyptian Premier League table after being held to a goalless draw by Baladeyet El-Mahalla in a rescheduled match on Monday.

The result leaves Zamalek in sixth place with 42 points from 18 games, while Baladiyat El Mahalla remain in the relegation zone, 16th on 24 points.

Both sides wasted a host of opportunities throughout the contest, with Zamalek goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhi making crucial saves in the 13th and 73rd minutes.

Baladiyat El Mahalla also saw strong efforts denied, with Ahmed Hussein keeping out a powerful strike from Sayed Abdallah early in the second half and a late shot from Mostafa Shalaby.

The draw does little for either team's ambitions. Zamalek fall short of putting pressure on the sides above them, while Baladeyet El-Mahalla remain precariously close to the drop zone.

Zamalek will look to bounce back when they face Dakhleya next Sunday, while Baladeyet El-Mahalla host Ceramica Cleopatra a day earlier.
