Mayele evaded his marker to connect with Mohamed Chibi's corner in the 83rd minute, punishing debutants Zed FC, who missed several opportunities in the first half before adopting a more defensive approach in the second.
It was third time charm for Pyramids, who had previously lost to Zamalek in the 2019 Egypt Cup final and to arch-rivals Ahly in the 2022 final.
The newly established powerhouse in Egyptian football can finally exorcise their demons, having also experienced heartbreak in the 2019 African Confederation Cup final against RS Berkane of Morocco and the 2023 Egyptian Super Cup against Ahly.
Pyramids FC's triumph ends a 13-year dominance by Ahly and Zamalek, with Enppi being the last team outside of those two to win the title in 2011.
Since their rebranding in 2018 under the Saudi ownership of Turki Alalshikh, the former El-Assiouty FC have flexed their financial muscles to assemble an elite squad, establishing themselves as a force to be reckoned with both domestically and on the continental stage.
Currently owned by Emirati businessman Salem Al-Shamsi, Pyramids FC have consistently secured top-three finishes in the league and made a significant impact in both the CAF Confederation Cup and the Champions League.
