Ahly defender Sherif Abdel-Fadil has undergone medical scans that reveal he was suffering from minor muscle problems during Sunday's 1-1 draw to Zamalek in the final game of the CAF Champions League group stage.

"Medical scans have showed that my muscle injury is minor and not dangerous, as expected," Abdel-Fadil told Ahly's official website.

"I expect to return to training before the game against Nigerian Sunshine Stars," he added.

The former Ismaily defender is currently completing his rehabilitation in hopes of recovering and boosting Ahly's squad in the game against the Nigerian side.

The 29-year-old defender was sidelined during Ahly's 1-1 draw against Zamalek on Sunday in the 25th minute after reporting hamstring pain.

Six-time African Champions League winners Ahly will face the Sunshine Stars between 5 and 7 October in the first leg of the CAF Champions League' semi-finals. The second leg is slated for between 19 and 21 of the same month.
