Zamalek's head coach José Gomes disregarded speculations over his future with Zamalek, insisting that he is focused on leading the team to domestic glory this season despite reports linking him to Saudi side Al-Ettifaq.

Saudi media reports have suggested that Gomes is among the candidates being considered by Al-Ettifaq, should the club part ways with under-pressure English coach Steven Gerrard amid a poor run of form.

“I am not worried about my contract with Zamalek. I have enough time to discuss this matter with the club,” Gomes told Saudi Arriyadiyah.

The Portuguese coach outlined his ambitions for the current campaign, stating that winning the Egyptian Premier League is his top priority.

“Achieving this goal would be a fantastic and memorable milestone in my career; it requires hard work and focus, but I believe we can do it,” he said.

Gomes, 53, has been in charge of Zamalek for 42 matches, winning 24 matches, drawing eight, and losing 10.

Under his leadership, the Cairo-based club secured the CAF Confederation Cup and the CAF Super Cup titles.

Meanwhile, Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq have struggled this season, which led to speculation about a managerial change.

Gomes has a strong track record in Saudi Arabia, having managed Al-Taawoun twice and winning the Saudi Super Cup with Al-Ahli Jeddah.
