“Shikabala’s injury involves a knee contusion and a first-degree hamstring tear. Maher has a mild first-degree hamstring strain and significant muscular fatigue,” Mohamed Osama, head of the medical staff at Zamalek, said in a statement issued by the club’s media centre.
Osama added that Zamalek player Mohamed El-Sayed also sustained an adductor tear while representing Egypt’s U-20 team at the North African Championship.
Zamalek, who accumulated six points from their opening three league matches with two wins and one defeat, are now preparing to face Mozambique’s Black Bulls in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage opener.
The injuries were a blow to the Cairo-based team, who are seeking to rebound from its defeat to Masry.
